So I ran across this song by MC Riz Ahmed Rizwan not too long ago and thought I may as well post it here… just to spice things up a bit… and maybe even play around with the whole youTube thing.
Lyrics after the break.
So, what I would actually like is for my blog to look like this(or at least a variation of it), however that theme uses some javascript that the image displaying scripts that I want to use doesn’t seem to get along with. So, until I figure out how to get Lightbox.js, ScaryMonkey and Moo.fx to play well together, I think I’m going to be resigned to using this alternate theme.
Just a list of movies I have seen, or hope to see soon. This list will continue to grow.
Britney Spears: A Monument to Pro-life.
0 Comments Published March 29th, 2006 in Just plain weird, PopcultureFrom the gallery’s website:
A nude Britney Spears on a bearskin rug while giving birth to her firstborn marks a ‘first’ for Pro-Life. Pop-star Britney Spears is the “ideal” model for Pro-Life and the subject of a dedication at Capla Kesting Fine Art in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg gallery district, in what is proclaimed the first Pro-Life monument to birth, in April.
Dedication of the life-sized statue celebrates the recent birth of Spears’ baby boy, Sean, and applauds her decision of placing family before career. “A superstar at Britney’s young age having a child is rare in today’s celebrity culture. This dedication honors Britney for the rarity of her choice and bravery of her decision,” said gallery co-director, Lincoln Capla. The dedication includes materials provided by Manhattan Right To Life Committee.
I’m not too sure how to even begin here. I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves.
From an email I received:
Rep. Bob Inglis (R-SC), Research Subcommittee Chair, announced that next week he will introduce legislation to create a major new incentive of perhaps $100 million to overcome scientific and technical barriers to a hydrogen economy. Like maybe the First Law of Thermodynamics?
I went to a roller skating rink the other day with my Little Brother. The fact that I can’t roller skate was a little bit of a hinderance… but otherwise it was pretty interesting. Having gone on a Sunday afternoon, the place was packed with kids (I never knew the skating rink was a viable alternative to the mall these days). Anyway, not having listened to anything on the radio but npr in a while, the blast of new music I got to listen to while feebly attempting to stay upright was… a little distracting. Choice lyrics that were seared into my head as I took a toss:
Cuz I stay so hard
You can suck me for a long time
(Oh my god!)
Gurl dis ain’t no dance flo’
Dis a candy sto’
I have D4L singing Laffy Taffy to thank for that.
A slightly more interesting song that I also seem to remember pretty well is called Hot Topic is Not Punk Rock, by MC Lars. He just lists off a bunch of stuff that isn’t punk rock (that hot topic presumably sells - AC/DC hair clips?)… and then ends the song with a little monologue about how Hot Topic is a million dollar company that is manufacturing an anti-authoritarian identity by trying to associate with youth sub-cultures. Good stuff.
I wonder how many of the kids at the skating rink with t-shirts that looked like they were straight out of Hot Topic were actually listening.
